Trio Upward Bound is one of 8 programs granted by the US Department of education to serve students from low-income and potential first-generation college backgrounds.

Managed and regulated $250.000 + budget in line with student services and program objectives

Directed all aspects of programming throughout the academic year and the required 6-week summer component

Integrated online learning management systems into program operations and make available to students

Established working relationships with targeted schools, host institution, and community partners

RESOURCE SPECIALIST | TRIO STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES| OCTOBER 2016-DECEMBER 2017

Coordinated LEAD, fall 17, an early move-in program for qualified students designed to acclimate students to life on campus and foster peer/staff relationships.

Supervised 5 peer mentors responsible for providing peer support and referrals for new and at-risk students.

Developed and identified metrics to assess mentor impact on students inclusive of tracking unique students served and time committed by the mentors to the program.

Served as Advisor for Student Liaison Advisory Board (SLAB) for SSS.

Provided Financial Aid assistance including; filing yearly FAFSA, KHEAA verification, SAP appeals, scholarship and loan application assistance.

Planned and facilitated recruitment efforts with students that have been accepted to Murray State University in order to meet grant prescribed service numbers.

Develop and facilitate workshops inclusive of financial literacy, Satisfactory Academic Progress, and social development for both live and online platforms.

Facilitated stress group meetings open to students enrolled in the program. Stress group meetings are designed to allow students a safe place to vent and process stressors they are encountering throughout their semester.

Conducted the second stage of individual intake meetings for students entering the program. During this second stage interview, students are asked to complete the LASSI, program needs assessment, and graduate school survey. Students are provided verbal and print information geared toward familiarizing themselves with on campus resources. satisfactory academic progress and appeal procedures, as well as development of and discussion of service plan(s).

GRADUATE INTERN| OFFICE OF RETENTION AT MURRAY STATE UNIVERSITY| SPRING 2017

Completed 150 hours field practicum.

Benchmarked programming geared toward the sophomore student population at similar institutions.

Coordinated focus groups in conjunction with the retention team. Collected, organized, and analyzed data under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Retention.

Organized and facilitated focus group(s) for freshman students in good standing taking longer than average to progress to sophomore standing.

GRADUATE INTERN | OFFICE OF LGBT PROGRAMMING AT MURRAY STATE UNIVERSITY| FALL 2016

Research focused on comparable and aspirational programming available at similar 4-year, regional institutions with established LGBT programs. Benchmarking in order to provide recommendations to enhance the first-year experience and program participation among self-identified LGBT students at Murray State University.

Created online tools for data collection, tracking, and analysis.

Developed training materials for emerging peer educator program.

Updated and modernized Safe Zone training to include current information and online delivery platform.

Collaborated with Student Support Services to provide midterm academic checkups for students that regularly utilize and participate in The Office of LGBT Programming.

Present body safety programming in elementary schools throughout the Purchase Region in Kentucky. Co-wrote 2015 Ronald McDonald House Charities (RHMC) Grant to fund the Education Department.

Completed 300-hour internship.

Developed training manual for education volunteers and subsequent interns. Created policy and procedure materials for handling crisis calls and walk-ins.

Completed ICJDVA Training State grant funded program designed to assist families experiencing domestic violence and/or homelessness.

Managed data input for allowable services and assisted with reports for site director. Overall management of onsite women’s shelter. Skilled in planning and conflict resolution.

Advocated on behalf of clients with state and local agencies for services offered to clients such as housing, medical care, education, etc. Assisted clients with completing and filing orders of protection.

Determined service eligibility and developed case plans with incoming clients. Oversaw crisis hotline and made referrals as necessary.

Developed a change of shift reporting system to alleviate any confusion or surprises accompanied by change of staff.
